Anthony Byrne MP, Federal Member for Holt, caught up with John Hopkins & Peter Godfrey from the Casey Regional Veterans Welfare Centre, as the organisation received $3,191.60 under the Building Excellence in Support and Training (BEST) program from the Australian Government.

The BEST program, administered by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA), provides support and resources to ex-service practitioners for pension and welfare work to assist veterans, war widows and widowers. Further information can be accessed on DVA’s website at www.dva.gov.au

BEST grants are an important part of the Government’s commitment to support ex-service organisation pensions officers, welfare officers and advocates and it is vital to the provision of support to veterans seeking compensation, and their families.

“Local organisations like the Casey Regional Veterans Welfare Centre carry out wonderful work in the local community and it is fantastic to reward the organisation with extra funds to support their vital programs for local Veterans, said Mr Byrne.
